How
can I preview and purchase the Cinderella Children
documentary DVD?
Cinderella Children is a documentary that was developed to
promote the awareness and sponsorship of the war orphans at
the Childcare K itgum Servants school in Uganda.
The
documentary was made with the partnership of Irene Gleeson,

pastors at Christian City Church Westside.

Can I write or send a gift to my child?
Yes, you are encouraged to write or send small gifts to your
child whenever you like and post direct to Africa:
c/o Irene Gleeson
Childcare Kitgum Servants
P O Box 40
Kitgum, UGANDA
Mark clearly on the parcel, 'Orphans Relief Goods', to help
ensure your parcel arrives in tact.
Enclose a self-addressed envelope for the reply. Do not post
to the volunteer office in Sydney. A correspondence clerk
will locate your child among the 8,000 or more children
coming daily to school and ensure that your child writes a
reply. Gifts are only given to the children after they have
written thank-you notes.
The school is closed at Christmas so it is better to send
gifts to reach us in time for the children's birthday party
in the first week of July. Allow at least 8 weeks for return
airmail post to northern Uganda (or 6 months for sea mail).
Good gifts are books, t-shirts, undies, small FM radios,
pens, soap, toothbrushes or balls. But, please, no jewelry,
short dresses or girls' slacks. Irene encourages you to send
items in sets of 4 so that they can be shared with children
who are not sponsored. (We will NOT accept cash donations
for individual children or families).
Can I visit my child?
Visitors are welcome to come for a ten day visit to meet
your child and learn more about this precious Acholi tribe.
The children and staff are greatly encouraged by your love
and effort. Avoid school holidays: May, September and
mid-November to the end of January. All visitors will be
required to pay their own way, including money to cover the
costs of food and lodge while staying at CKS.
What information can I expect from being a Child Sponsor?
As a child sponsor, you have joined hands with us to rescue
destitute children in North Uganda. We look forward to
keeping in touch with you and telling you about his or her
progress. You will receive 3 newsletters a year, their
mid-year school report with a new photo and a Christmas
greeting.
Are my donations tax deductible?
In Australia, yes, all donations and sponsorship payments
are tax deductible if paid to our Development Fund. All
donations in the UK can be Gift-Aided in 2010.
